Robert Gray (1952 - 2020)

That Rob has left us, is a huge shock and fills me with great sadness. Rob is a pioneer for social and environmental accounting and reporting research; he inspired generations of scholars and built a ‘family’ of researchers engaging for ‘the good cause’. Rob was a great scholar and friend. We had vivid debates and I always felt intellectually energized by our discussions. We started from different departures but our exchange was always filled with high appreciation of the other. I was working with him on an old paper we had not continued for years. We recently picked the paper up again and felt that we were shortly before considering it finalized. He left us suddenly and much too early in the middle of engaged projects and inspired debates about the future of accounting for sustainability. We all miss Rob and we wish Sue, Mike, Chris and the family all the best in this difficult time.
